International Workshop under GIAN-MHRD scheme concludes at PU

Chandigarh: A week long International Workshop on “Heterogeneous Catalysis and Applications” concluded at Department of CIL/SAIF/UCIM, Panjab University (PU). The event was organized under Global Initiative of Academic Networks (GIAN) -MHRD scheme and under aegis of Chandigarh Region Innovation and Knowledge Cluster (CRIKC). 50 participants, mainly researchers and scientists of various academic institutes and industries participated in the workshop.

At the Valedictory function, PU Vice Chancellor Prof. A. K. Grover, thanked the guest faculty Dr. Alex Ibhadon and all the participants of the workshop for their invaluable contribution. He emphasized that such workshops should be promoted and expressed his views that Frontiers of Knowledge in Niche areas should always be explored using such platforms.

The course coordinator of GIAN program at PU Chandigarh Prof. S.K. Mehta delivered vote of grateful thanks to the chair, participants and other dignitaries of the workshop those who had helped in making the workshop a success. During the International Workshop, the foreign faculty Prof. Alex Ibhadon, Department of Chemical Engineering and Chemistry, University of Hull, UK delivered three sessions of one and half hour duration on the course topics every day. He discussed different research aspects of Heterogeneous catalysts and different reactor geometries. He also offered assignments to the participants, conducted tutorials and provided latest research themes to the participants to encourage them to do good quality research.

The Valedictory function started with a small recapitulation of the seven day workshop by Professor Sushil Kumar Kansal, the course coordinator of GIAN program at PU Chandigarh. Director, Research Promotion Cell Prof. O.P. Karate congratulated the organizers for the successful execution of this elite event. At the end the participants were distributed the certificates for attending the workshop. The participants were seen highly enthusiastic and interactive during whole time span of the one week long workshop.
